Your boat needs to be somewhere else. You don't want to take a week off to get it there.

Maybe you bought a boat two states away and need it brought home. Maybe your slip lease is up and you're moving to a new marina across the bay. Or you just had major work done and want someone to put it through its paces before you take the family out. These are the kinds of jobs I do.

I hold a 100 Ton USCG Near Coastal captain's license. I've run boats up to 78 feet, moving up to 30 people at a time along with parts, tools, and supplies. I also ran Sea Quenched Private Charters out of Ocean City for three seasons, sightseeing and sunset cruises with five-star reviews on Google and Airbnb. Point is: I've spent more time behind the helm than on land.

I've run coastal deliveries from New York down to North Carolina. Powerboats are my primary, but I'm comfortable on just about anything up to 80 feet. If the boat needs to go somewhere farther, I'll make the trip.

Boat delivery between marinas. Relocation runs up or down the coast. Sea trials for buyers and sellers who want an honest assessment of how a boat performs on the water. Dock-to-dock moves when you don't have the time or the crew. Shakedown runs after engine work, rigging, or any major service. Private charters out of Ocean City if you just want to get on the water.

I treat your boat like it's mine. Because when I'm behind the helm, it's my responsibility.

Why hire a captain?

It comes down to time, safety, and peace of mind.

Your boat gets there safe

100 Ton Near Coastal license, proper seamanship, professional handling. Your vessel is operated by someone who's run crewboats up to 78 feet. Not a buddy doing you a favor. Not a marina kid with a learner's permit.

Skip the long drive

You fly or drive to the destination. Your boat meets you there. No trailering headaches, no multi-day road trips, no trying to coordinate crew. I run the boat. You show up and start using it.

Sea trials done right

Buying a boat? I'll put it through its paces and give you an honest read. RPMs at cruise, top end performance, how it handles at speed, any strange noises or vibrations. You get a real assessment, not a sales pitch from the seller.

One less thing to worry about

Spring commissioning run after winter storage. Post-service shakedown after your mechanic finishes. Moving from one slip to another across the harbor. These are things that eat up your weekends. You don't have to take time off work for them.

What's included with every delivery

Pre-departure vessel check

Systems, fuel levels, bilge, navigation electronics, safety gear. Everything gets checked before I leave the dock.

Route planning and weather monitoring

I plan the route ahead of time and monitor conditions throughout the trip. If the weather turns, I wait. Your boat isn't going out in conditions that put it at risk.

Communication updates during transit

You'll know where your boat is. I send updates at departure, during the run, and on arrival. No radio silence.

Proper docking and securing at destination

Lines, fenders, shore power if applicable. Your boat is tied up correctly and ready for you when you arrive.

Post-delivery walkthrough with owner

When the trip is done, I'll walk you through how the boat ran, anything I noticed, and any recommendations. Full transparency on what happened during transit.

Where I operate

Home base is Ocean City, Maryland. Most of my work is on the Delmarva Peninsula and throughout the Chesapeake Bay. That covers the Delaware coast, Maryland's Eastern Shore, and the bay from the C&D Canal down to Norfolk.

Longer runs up and down the East Coast? I do those too. If your boat needs to move along the coast, I can make it happen. I'll work out the logistics and timing with you based on the distance and weather patterns.

Common questions

Are you a licensed captain?

Yes. I hold a 100 Ton USCG Near Coastal license. I've run crewboats from 48 to 78 feet and ran Sea Quenched Private Charters out of Ocean City for three seasons. Federal law requires a licensed captain for any paid vessel transport, so this isn't optional for anyone you hire.

What size boats can you handle?

I'm comfortable on powerboats up to 80 feet. Center consoles, sportfish, express cruisers, trawlers, cabin cruisers. If your boat has specific requirements or is outside my wheelhouse, I'll be upfront about it.

How far in advance do I need to book?

Depends on the job. A short dock-to-dock move within a marina or between nearby marinas can often happen within a week. Longer coastal deliveries need more lead time because I wait for the right weather windows. Seasonal demand also plays a role, especially spring commissioning and fall haul-out season.

Do you do charters or fishing trips?

I do private charters out of Ocean City. Sightseeing, sunset cruises, and private boat parties. I ran Sea Quenched Private Charters for three seasons with five-star reviews on Google and Airbnb. Contact me to discuss dates, group size, and what you're looking for.
